SI-C Experimente in Rock Laboratory | MontTerri

The Helmholtz Association, represented by the centres GFZ, UFZ, FZJ, HZDR, and KIT, is a partner of the Mont Terri Project. Within this project, 22 partners from 10 nations perform experiments in the Mont Terri rock laboratory, situated in a network of tunnels and galleries in the Opalinus Clay, made accessible by the safety gallery of a motorway tunnel in the Swiss Jura. The SI-C experiment aims at the seismic imaging of the geological structure of the Mont Terri anticline with particular focus on the region between the surface and the depth level of the rock laboratory and the tunnel. We combine seismic source and receiver deployment on the surface and additional seismic acquisition in the underground for a 3D tomographic imaging of the subsurface in the presence of challenging surface topography and underground infrastructure.
