HIDA Lecture on AI: GenAI in the Public Sector

Sprecherin Anita Klingel, wird über den Einzug von KI im öffentlichen Raum sprechen und Projekte vorstellen, die viele Bereiche der öffentlichen Verwaltung effizienter gestalten werden.

HIDA Lecture: GenAI in the Public Sector will take place online on 1 April 2025, from 11:00 to 12:00 in English only.

The German public sector has a notoriously bad reputation: too slow, too bureaucratic, too analogue.

Drawing from her hands-on experience in several AI projects on all federal levels, Anita will paint a different picture when it comes to the adoption of AI in government services: promising projects, competency and capacity building will enable many areas of public administration to deliver better services faster. She will share examples, but also growing pains when it comes to AI implementation.

As an AI expert for the German state's inhouse consultancy, PD, Anita Klingel is responsible for AI projects in the administrative context with a focus on AI governance, testing and certification. In 2023, she was honored as a "Young Leader in GovTech" for her work, and in 2024 as one of the "Voices of Economic Transformation".

Before joining PD, she helped set up the "Ethics of Algorithms" project for the Bertelsmann Foundation and worked for over ten years in German foundations, including Stiftung Neue Verantwortung, Mercator and Kühne Foundation. In 2011, she supported the Hungarian EU Council Presidency with the German Embassy in Budapest.
