Seismicity and Active Tectonics:
Studying seismic activity in various tectonic settings with an emphasis on active fault zones, crustal deformation, and the spatiotemporal distribution of earthquakes. This includes mapping and modeling of active tectonic regions to assess earthquake potential and recurrence.
Earthquake Source Processes and Seismic Cycle:
Investigating the source mechanisms of tectonic and volcano-tectonic earthquakes, including repeating earthquake swarm sequences and induced/triggered seismicity. Particular focus is given to characterizing volumetric source components, rupture complexity, and fluid-related processes.
Machine Learning in Seismology:
Applying machine learning algorithms for automated earthquake detection, classification, and high-precision localization.
LARGE-N Seismic Arrays:
Dense seismic deployments (LARGE-N networks) for high-resolution imaging of seismic sources, crustal structures, and subsurface anomalies. This includes the scientific design, deployment, and processing of these arrays to enhance event detection and resolve small-scale heterogeneities in tectonically active regions.
Landslide Seismology:
Analyzing landslide-induced seismic signals to understand their source dynamics and improve detection and characterization of non-tectonic ground failure events.
Magmatic Systems:
Exploring the interaction between magmatic processes and seismogenesis using integrated geophysical and geochemical datasets, especially in volcanic and hydrothermal systems.
Volcano Early Warning:
Designing real-time early warning systems for volcanic regions based on ambient seismic noise and continuous monitoring, contributing to hazard mitigation in volcanically active areas.
Lithospheric Imaging:
Investigating crustal and upper mantle structures using receiver function analysis and surface wave dispersion.
